Board of Directors

Each member of the Board of Directors is dedicated to fulfilling VisionGift’s mission of advancing the science of sight and honoring the gift of vision. Thanks to their leadership, we have been able to restore the sight to more than 40,000 people and make advancements in science that have impacted the world.

George Finch, JD

George Finch, JD

George is a native of Detroit, Michigan. He completed his BA at Michigan State University in International Relations. After a career in international business, he continued his education at Willamette University College of Law, which brought him to the Pacific Northwest.  


Following graduation, George worked for a variety of state boards including education, health care, and other professional licensure fields. In 2013, George started his own company providing services to a variety of state agencies and nonprofits. George’s professional focus is special education law, and diversity, equity, and inclusion issues. After working with state healthcare licensure boards and being part of the administration of a clinical medical study, George was attracted to the mission of VisionGift to continue service to the healthcare field. 
 

Shipra Kamra

Shipra Kamra

Shipra Kamra is Head of People Operations at RFPIO, she brings over 15 years of experience in Human Resources and has worked in Nike, Target, CDK Global, and other technology organizations. Her expertise lies in partnering with businesses to transform organization and people strategy, Talent management, and Leadership Development.  Shipra was born and raised in India. She has a Bachelor in Computer Applications from MD University, India & MBA from MSRIM College, Bangalore.  Her experience of working in different geographies/countries helps her look at the problems from a different lens. As an HR leader, diversity & inclusion is a top priority for her, and she believes in providing equal opportunities to all.  She is passionate about giving back to the community and has volunteered for the community in many different ways. Shipra admires the mission and contributions of VisionGift and is committed to contributing in ways to enhance VG’s impact in the community. 

Anne Carleton

Anne Carleton

Anne is honored to serve on the VisionGift Board of Directors. Her personal experience as a donor mom has given her a deep understanding of the life-changing impact of donation. Her son Hayden’s gift of sight inspires her commitment to advocate for donor families, recipients, and the importance of donation. She brings a unique perspective, a passion for storytelling, and a drive to help VisionGift’s mission reach more lives and create lasting impact.

Will Clayton

Will Clayton

With a background in operations management and data analysis, Will has served on the Board of VisionGift for two years. He was motivated by a desire to serve his community and help VG increase its positive impact on the communities it serves. Will has an MBA from Harvard (2012) and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Olin College (2006). Will is currently the Principal Data Analyst at Customer.io and previously worked as an Operations-focused Director at Simple Finance in Portland and a Manager of Strategic Operations at athenahealth in Boston.

Dave Fuller

Dave Fuller

Dave has been a Lions member since 1978 – the same year he became a licensed embalmer and certified volunteer enucleator. Dave has been the owner and operator of the Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home in Vancouver, WA since 1986. He holds a BSBA in Management from Walla Walla College and an AS in Funeral Service Education from Mt Hood Community College. Dave enjoys bringing his extensive funeral service perspective to the VG Board. He believes his service helps others with the gift of sight.

Emanuel Tanne, MD

Emanuel Tanne, MD

Dr. Tanne is Medical Director Emeritus for VisionGift. He served as the Surgical Director from 1975-1987 and has served on the Board since 1987. Dr. Tanne received his AB from Columbia, his MD from SUNY Downstate, internship at the University of California, San Francisco, and performed a residency in ophthalmology at the New Jersey College of Medicine. He completed two fellowships both in corneal and ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. One at the Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia and the second at the Queen Victoria Hospital, in England. He has published many papers, held numerous academic appointments, and served in the military as a flight surgeon. He is also the founder of the Intracranial Hypertension Research Foundation. Dr. Tanne believes that it is an obligation for people to improve the lives of others and even more so as a physician. His career in ophthalmology, corneal transplantation, and support of eye banking is the pathway in which he lives up to this obligation.

Leslie Coefield

Leslie Coefield

As a Donor Mom, Leslie possesses a high degree of empathy making her an effective Board Member with the ability to represent other Donor family’s best interests. After graduation from the University of Oregon and serving her country for four years in the US Army, she has spent the last 30 years working in the field of Social Work.

Kevin Sittner

Kevin Sittner

Kevin earned a BS in accounting from the University of Oregon and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.  He is a CPA and a CFP® professional, who currently works as financial advisor with Sittner & Nelson, LLC in Eugene, after beginning his career with PwC as an auditor and management consultant.  Kevin passionately supports the organization’s mission of providing the gift of sight and furthering the field through research and takes great pride in serving on the VG Board.

Matt Fisher, JD

Matt Fisher, JD

Matt began his career working as an ER and laboratory technician where he was first exposed to eye banking when observing a recovery. He was captivated by the professionalism and respect the recovery technician exhibited throughout the process. He worked full time at VG for three years – quickly becoming a Certified Eye Bank Technician prior to his promotion to the role of Operations Officer. Matt worked as an on-call technician throughout his pursuit of a law degree at Willamette University. He is in private practice at Crispin Hannon Marton Cambreleng, LLC, representing injured workers. Matt spent eight years in the Army Reserve reaching the rank of Captain and he holds a BS in Biology from Willamette University. Matt returned to VG as a Board Member in 2017.

Nandini Tiruvallur, DMD

Nandini Tiruvallur, DMD

Nandini is a retired dentist, who practiced dentistry at Gentle Dental, Tigard, Oregon, for 27 years. She was born and raised in India. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Dentistry, Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), in India from Ahmedabad Government college in Ahmedabad, India. She then immigrated to US and received her second dental degree, Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon. Outside of her career, she has been active in her community, helping at the Oregon Food Bank, Salvation Army and local temple.  Nandini loves traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.  

 
She hopes to be very involved with VisionGift and contribute in its efforts to improving lives through eye donation, transplantation and research. She hopes to bring her healthcare experience to elevate our mission. 

Renee Deehan, PhD

Renee Deehan, PhD

Renee Deehan is Vice President of Science and Artificial Intelligence at InsideTracker, a personalized healthspan company that provides science-backed, AI-driven lifestyle interventions based on the customer’s unique biomarker profile.  In her role at InsideTracker, Renee is responsible for delivering scientific content to InsideTracker’s web-based and mobile applications, continuing the development of our dual-AI platform, and mining InsideTracker’s data asset, a longitudinal cohort of user data consisting DNA, clinical blood biomarkers, wearable devices and survey responses, for novel scientific and product-related insights.  Prior to InsideTracker, she held executive positions in precision and translational medicine at QuartzBio, PatientsLikeMe and Selventa, where she applied computational techniques to large-scale biological data.  Renee holds a Ph.D in molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BSE in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Susan Meikle Stoops

Susan Meikle Stoops

Susan Meikle Stoops is a retired Special Education teacher and administrator who earned a BA at Willamette University (1971, American Studies and Education) and a MS (1975, Special Education) at Western Oregon University (then OCE). Susan’s late husband, Jack W. Stoops, a cornea donor, was a long-time member of the VG Board of Directors. After his death in 2016, Susan joined the VG Board to continue their shared commitment to restoring sight through transplantation and research.

Brad Hathaway

Brad Hathaway

Brad Hathaway is a retired financial and accounting executive with experience in nonprofit organizations, FDA-regulated biotech, and international manufacturing. His career included assignments in three countries outside the United States, though he is an Oregon native and a graduate of Portland State University. Brad brings strengths in financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and accounting operations, and is pleased to support VisionGift’s mission as a member of the Board.
